Chandrika Tandon, a Grammy winner, celebrates her Ahmedabad roots and musical journey, blending traditional Indian sounds with modern influences in her award-winning album.
Chandrika Tandon, a singer with Indian roots, received a Grammy award. She is the sister of Indra Nooyi, ex-CEO of PepsiCo. People loved her show at IIM Ahmedabad back in 2011. She had performed from her first album, “Soul Call.”
Tandon said music is love, light, and laughter. She thanked everyone who makes music. She wore a pretty pink salwar-kurta for the award. It had gold designs on it.
She won her Grammy for the album, “Triveni.” It won in the New Age category. Flautist Wouter Kellerman and cellist Eru Matsumoto also were honored. Her album mixes old mantras and modern tunes.
Chandrika is very connected to Ahmedabad. This business leader and musician got her MBA from IIM Ahmedabad. She grew up in a traditional family in Chennai. She studied at Madras Christian College as well.
Chandrika and her sister Indra loved music since they were little kids. Chandrika is also a business leader. Her family knew the Samaveda well. Vedic chants were part of her childhood. She brought Indian culture to the world stage.
She was a partner at McKinsey & Co. She also started her own firm, Tandon Capital Associates. It helped over 40 financial companies do better. Chandrika is on many boards at NYU. She is also involved in Yale.
Her foundation created faculty chairs at Yale and Harvard. She is a member of other important groups too.
